Has your Nespresso machine been malfunctioning lately? A factory reset is the fastest and easiest way to fix most software problems, especially with newer Nespresso machines.

In this article, you’ll find model-specific instructions for how to reset Nespresso machines from both the Original and Vertuo lines. I’ve also prepared a comparison of all the Nespresso models which you can use if you need to figure out which model you own.

How to Reset Nespresso VertuoLine Machines

The Nespresso Vertuo machines are designed for ultimate ease of use, and that includes their reset instructions.

Nespresso Vertuo and VertuoPlus factory reset

Despite all the differences between the Vertuo and VertuoPlus, both models are reset in the same way:

Step 1 – If there is a pod inside the holder, remove it and close the lid. Next, hold down the lever for three seconds in order to turn off the machine.

Step 2 – Simultaneously hold down the lever and the button. Your Nespresso’s orange light should start blinking.

Step 3 – Push the lever three times.

Step 4 – Press the button to confirm. The reset should be complete at this time, which should be indicated by the orange light blinking three times at one-second intervals. The orange blinking light should soon turn green, at which point you’re finished and can begin brewing your next cup of coffee.

How to Reset Nespresso OriginalLine Machines

Many of the OriginalLine vs VertuoLine differences come down to one fact: The OriginalLine is older. That means a lot more model options, but it also means more variance in reset instructions. This is especially true if you have one of the DeLonghi or Breville-specific Nespresso models.

What’s Next?

After a factory reset, your Nespresso should be ready to brew more tasty Nespresso iced coffee or high-caffeine Nespresso pods.

If you weren’t able to troubleshoot your Nespresso yourself, their support line should be able to get you back up and running. Nespresso machines are worth buying for a lot of reasons, and the quality of their devices and service are right at the top of that list.
